On the Passing of Haji Yacoob Ali
إنا لله وإنا إليه راجعون
Innaa lillaahi wa innaa ilaihi rajioon
To Allah we belong and to Him is our returning
MajlisTT notes the passing of the President General of Anjuman Sunnatul Jamaat Association (ASJA), Haji Yacoob Ali.
We firstly pray the Almighty Allah forgives him of his shortcomings, makes his stay in Barzakh easy, causes the breeze of Jannah to blow in his grave, raises him up with the righteous on the Day of Reckoning, and grants him Jannatul Firdaus in the ‘Aakhirah.
Secondly, we offer our condolences to his family and to the ASJA executive at this time. We are reminded in the Holy Quran that we will all experience death (Quran 3:185), wherever we may be (Quran 4:78), and would be informed of what we have done in this life. (Quran 62:8).
We recognize that Haji Yacoob Ali was a long-standing President General of the ASJA – itself one of the largest representative Muslim bodies in the Caribbean region – and this is testimony to his character and his conviction. It is a demanding role, requiring ongoing engagement of multiple stakeholder groups throughout the strata of society, and he served in this capacity with grace and with fortitude.
We pray that Almighty Allah reward him for his efforts and sacrifices, and forgive him his shortcomings.
