The Quran tells us in 2:117 when Allah wanted to create the heavens and the earth, He said 'Be' and it became. This is often cited as testimony of His power and His glory.
Today persons would laugh at this – you cant speak something into existence. As the logic goes, matter comes from energy – through physical and chemical interactions and reactions. Others would say the verses are metaphorical or allegorical expressions.
But when we look at it, at the sub-atomic level, we see that for the behaviors of quarks and bosons – some of which we were able to detect – the best explanation that accounts for their behavior is string theory – that reconciles principles of quantum mechanics with general relativity.
Of course, we are nowhere near having the technology to prove this. It remains, at this stage, just theory. As it goes, the foundation building blocks of the universe are not particles but 1-dimensional strings that vibrate at different frequencies, and which combine to create different matter.
What else are strings that vibrate at different frequencies? Vocal chords: single strings vibrating at different frequencies, and which creates effects we see in the study of cymatics.
Maybe a voice that is powerful enough, that spans a broad enough range of frequencies, can in fact speak matter into existence.
And just maybe, the verses of the Quran are not allegorical as some say, but are indicative of the actual world in which we live. That would put God at the 10th dimension of string theory – having Infinite power. We are told such in the Quran 65:12 “Allah has power over all things, and encompasses all things in His knowledge.”
