Introduction

When Allah completed the creation of the universe, He placed His vicegerent man therein with the ability to make choices. He (man) can choose to live a life with a materialistic outlook; or he can live such a life of enjoyment in this world, and at the same time make the necessary preparation for the Hereafter.

Islam teaches that a good person is one who takes the middle course in life, caring for the physical, while nurturing the spiritual as well. This requires a person to strive to become righteous. Why should one make this choice? Because everyone has to die; and will have to face Allah, on the Day of Accountability.

Because Allah is the All Just, He gives us every opportunity to do good and to beg for forgiveness, when a mistake is made. Since the purpose of life is to represent Allah here, by preparing for our return to Him, the wise person will want to maximize every opportunity to gain full profits to be deposited in his book of deeds for the hereafter. Everyone will prefer everlasting bliss; so there is need to work towards attaining it. Let us work towards this.

May Allah in His infinite Grace and Wisdom bless the righteous to be from among “His devotees”.
