Islamic Sociology
Maulana Dr. Waffie Mohammed
As Muslims we believe that man did not appear on earth by accident, nor was he the result of an evolutionary process. He was created as a separate species for the purpose of performing a specific function on earth and in the entire cosmos, during the course of time.
Islamic Sociology considers survival, not only confined to the material universe, as there is an onward journey, in which spiritual blessings will be of great benefit. Life in this world is a phase, in the same way as life in the mother was a particular phase for a fixed time.
Man has the capacity to choose and the will to act on his choices. He can bring upon himself difficulties as a result of his choices, or he can remove hardships, to a great extent, by carefully selecting the types of activities with which he engages himself.
In order to successfully traverse the different phases, one has to make the right choices, e.g. if one has to go to a cold country warm clothing must be acquired. So in order to make it easy in the grave and beyond, a person will have to do what is necessary in order to prevent negative effects.
Islam is that “way of life” based on a Culture given by Allah to man. As a result it guarantees its upholders success in both the worlds. And because its basic principles are not subject to change, it will remain the way of life for all people in all ages
